In the world of modern music production, I believe there are two kinds of studios:
"Recording" studios, and music studios. The
"recording" studio experience goes something like this:.......
You’re trying to create the magic vocal take that will launch
you to stardom (or at least impress your family and friends). A rather bored looking man claiming to be a "recording engineer"
sits behind the glass window fiddling with knobs and buttons. You record some takes and listen back, and then say
"I think I can do that part better." The engineer feigns sincerity and says:
"But it sounds so ...human....so...... natural."
(This is engineer lingo for "It stunk, but my martini is waiting, so let's wrap it up, ok?). You protest that something
sounded off key and he says the famous engineer line:
"We'll fix it in the mix." (Translation: See above).
When all is said and done, you walk away with something that sounds like a "Demo", which is another way of saying sub par material that will most likely go nowhere.
Sadly, This describes far too many studio experiences.....
